PentestGPT

A task-oriented assessment assistant, with an evidence burden

RedLatent editorial

Editorial summary — not a benchmark

Purpose

Organize a scoped local assessment when you can inspect every proposed action and verify every finding.

Use it when

  • You want to study staged AI-assisted assessment on an owned lab target.
  • You can retain a task tree and reviewer corrections, rather than relying on a final narrative.

Limitations

  • Current agentic code is not the same artifact as the original paper. Pin a commit and backend; review telemetry and egress before supplying assessment data. No advertised success rate was independently reproduced.
  • Editorial summary only; RedLatent has not benchmarked or executed this tool.

Setup requirements

  • Follow the selected revision’s installation instructions; current agent and legacy workflows differ.
  • An authorized isolated target, configured model backend, and reviewed tool permissions.

Access & cost

Repository access is public. Running the configured model backend may require a paid service; local orchestration does not guarantee local processing. Review the selected revision’s license and telemetry before adoption.
